Dr. DUKE WINSOR, PhD
Dr. Niels K. Winsor, or "Doc Duke", is the Chief Scientist at the Foundation for the Study of Cycles. He holds a in BA Mathematics and Physics from M.I.T. where he also studied Electrical Engineering, a Masters Degree in Physics & Astronomy from Darmouth College, and a PhD in Astro-Physical Sciences from Princeton University. Dr. Winsor continued working at the at the Plasma Physics Laboratory at Princeton after graduation, then moved the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington becoming head of the computational physics section. Dr. Winsor went in private industry at GT Devices where he did Numerical Modeling and Computational Physics (GT Devices was later bought out by General Dynamics in Alexandria Virginia). Doc Duke moved to Tetra Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico (who had several contracts with the Navy who was intrigued with his underwater work on directed energy) where he worked on Computer Modeling. Dr. Winsor holds approximately 18 patents and has about 180 publications and reports.
Something Out There ON THE SOT CHANNEL is hosted by Doc Duke to explore the wonders of outer space: Asteroids, meteorites, solar flares; in science and engineering: new objectives, new methods, new plans, new concepts. In the 21st Century, our new environment has been called the Information Economy. What is that? We can't eat information. We can't spend it, though we should be able to profit from it. If Earth is going to be struck by a large asteroid, we want to know about it as soon as possible. If we can use a new method of energy production to reduce our dependence on present forms, we want to know how to take advantage of it.
The objective of the Something Out There channel is to explore this novel information and attempt to separate the real, relevant Something from the hype and fantasy that is also Out There. That separation can be difficult, since the hype is often well funded, and may have a financial incentive for persuading us to follow its direction. We at the Foundation look forward to your comments on these subjects when you have personal knowledge about the Somethings from Out There that are addressed on the SOT channel.
